2. Mystery Shards: The In-Game Currency

Mystery Shards serve as the primary in-game currency within Space Races, allowing players to participate in races and craft Mystery Boxes. Players can earn Mystery Shards by achieving top rankings in the weekly Space Race leaderboard and by completing Mystery Missions. It's important to note that Mystery Shards are exclusively utilized within the current game environment, are not tradable, and are only used in the 1st phase Space Races environment. Upon the launch of MekaApes Ascension, Space Races will be powered by Stardust, the new in-game currency.

Mystery Shard Balances

Each SpaceShip maintains its own Mystery Shard balance, which includes shards from the following sources:

• Unlocking Mechanics: As detailed in 3.1. Mystery Shard Unlocking Mechanics, Mystery Shards are unlocked over time when a SpaceShip is minted or acquired from the secondary market.

• Weekly Leaderboard Wins: When players achieve top rankings and earn Mystery Shards through the weekly leaderboard, these shards are added directly to the balance of the SpaceShip that achieved the ranking.

• Mystery Missions: When participating in Mystery Missions, players must select a SpaceShip to assign for the mission. The Mystery Shards earned are then deposited directly into that SpaceShip's balance.

Global Mystery Shard Balance

In addition to individual SpaceShip balances, there is a global Mystery Shard balance. Players can transfer any amount of Mystery Shards from any of their SpaceShips to this global balance, which is necessary for certain actions:

• Race Entry Fees: The entry fee of 20 Mystery Shards per race is deducted from the global balance.

• Crafting Mystery Boxes: Crafting fees of 800 Mystery Shards are also taken from the global balance.

It's crucial to understand that while players can transfer Mystery Shards from their SpaceShips to the global balance at any time, transferring back from the global balance to a SpaceShip is not possible. This ensures a one-way flow of Shards that prioritizes strategic resource management.
